Still waiting for news about the Groups.
If I remember correctly, 100 groups will be chosen from the whole heap of them to be given new tools. Anything, anything at all, would do to make those groups easier to work with. Sometimes I’ve had to get up and walk away from the computer and relieve by frustration by shrieking at the magpies. I often think the groups are more trouble than they’re worth.
The real problem of course is the lack of interest from the group members. I suppose it’s just the link they’re after.
I’ve made some awards for contests. Hopefully that may awaken some engagement but I’ve yet to see it. A cash prize might go a lot further to kindle some interest.
It would be nice to start a cash prize, something tangible maybe? I’d love to start with Wander Downunder but there really aren’t enough lensmasters in that group.
Decisions, decisions……..
It’s so darned difficult to get any conversation going with groups. The group workshop is somewhat.. let’s tell the truth here, it’s old enough to be steam driven. It probably is! I know it runs out of puff every 10 minutes and logs me out.
There’s no mechanism to contact all the group members with a group mailer – or a group anything for that matter. And it’s no good relying on the guestbook/discussion module either.
So, as an experiment, I’ve put in some Group Forums at Help for Small Fish in a Big Pond. I’ve put notices in my groups and so has Sage.
We’ll see how it goes.
