Archive for the ‘Mythology’ Category

The only way I can even up with my cat (who is attracting more fans and followers than I am) is by creating more lenses – better lenses than he does. To do this I need to call upon my Muse. Will she answer? That’s the burning question.

The Muses

These days no one takes the idea of a real, semi-divine Muse anymore but the concept is still relevant. I find that ‘calling my Muse’ is a little ritual that forces me to sit down, smarten up and get my thoughts together. The very act of the ritual itself is a self disciplining act. I tidy up my desk, put my shoes on (to signify to myself that I am at work), pull the drapes right back so that I can see out over the garden.. and concentrate on summoning some creative spark.

It’s Clio whom I call.

Clio is the scholar or researcher who ignites the desire to record, to investigate, and to give an account of events in time. From recording our past, we learn from both our triumphs and our mistakes, and can plan for the future. As The Proclaimer, Clio makes things known, she passes the word, does her own personal shout-out. and You could say she gets on a soapbox. Just right for a radio broadcaster!

What I would really like to have is a statue, a bust, of Clio. You know how some musicians have a bust of Beethoven on their piano?

Apples green and apples red,
Hang from branches overhead

It’s quite startling how much Squidoo has changed in 6 months. When I go back to an older lens I find that it really needs better image placement – now possible with text with big picture. In some cases I’m sure that it’s taking me longer to revise them than it was to write them in the first place.

One such lens I dragged up was Apples in Mythology. Took a full 4 hours to make it look better with the new modules.

I should complete my series on ‘things’ in mythology.
